Join Photo-Africa on a photographic adventure to the plains and hills of Nambiti Game reserve outside Ladysmith.
Nambiti is a 20,000 acre Big 5 reserve situated in Kwazulu Natal. The only Big 5 reserve in the region, the reserve is made up of a wide biodiversity including grassland, savannah, thornveld and aloes with topography ranging from plains to valleys, mountains and waterfalls. Apart from the Big 5, Nambiti is home to more than thirty mammal species includes hyena, hippo, giraffe and eland. One of the main attractions at Nambiti is one of Africa’s most elegant cats and the fastest land mamal in the world, the cheetah.
The reserve is also home to a nesting colony of Blue Crane and Bald Ibises also make for regular sightings. Nambiti offers amazing photographic opportunities with the most astonishing backgrounds to round of the various natural subjects. Situated on a cliff top with a dramatic views over the Sundays river, we will be staying at Esiweni Lodge from 11 to 15 September 2011. To ensure complete exclusivity, Photo-Africa will be taking over the entire lodge. This photographic safari will be led by Grant Marcus. Grant is a wild life photographer and field guide who uses his passion for wild life photography to combine it with his knowledge of wild life to give people the best photographic and African bush experience possible.
To ensure exclusivity and space on the vehicle, this safari will be limitied to 6 photographers.

Apart from all the photography there will also be time to enjoy the luxury of Esiweni Lodge in between drives . There will always be ample opportunity to discuss different techniques and have some informal crit sessions with the photo leader.
Safari Itenary
Day 1 (11 September 2011)
Arrival at Esiweni lodge. During lunch we will discuss the afternoon’s activities and the rest of our stay. There will be time to ask photography related questions around the different goals for the week. After lunch there will be an hour or so to check your equipment before we head out in search of the animals the Zulu’s call ‘ingulule’ – the cheetah. After our first drive we recap the first shoot, have dinner and then of to the comfy bed of you luxury chalet.
Day 2-4 (12 to 14 September 2011)
Each day starts with an early morning coffee before we head out on safari. We will return to the lodge for breakfast, the time depending on sightings and photographic opportunities. After breakfast we relax and enjoy the lodge and photograph some birds around the lodge. There will be plenty of time to discuss and crit images. After lunch we head out again with the hope in finding the cheetah and other photographic subject on Nambiti.
Day 5 (15 September 2011)
Last chance to photograph the cheetah or a subject that you are hoping to capture before you leave Nambiti.
