Towards the beginning of the year i was approached by a journalist from the Reforma Newspaper based in Mexico City about using some of the images I had added to the site as Free desktop backgrounds. Initially i was a bit skeptical as to the authenticity of the request but thought I had nothing to loose so why not go for it?
After FTP’ing the high-res versions onto the site for them to download (so much easier than trying to email such large files) and sorting out the credit lines it was all systems go! I received a .pdf copy of the article yesterday and thought i would share it with you all:
The Reforma Newspaper used a total of three images:
- The header image of a male lion was taken in the Thornybush Game Reserve a couple of years back
- The image of the Southern Tree Agama (bottom left) was taken in Kruger National Park in August of last year
- The two young cheetah cubs stalking was taken in the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve
This is the first time that my images have been used in such a public arena and it gives me a great sense of pride. As a self taught photographer there is no better feeling than capturing an image the way you envisage it in your own mind, but to know that there are other people out there appreciate your work really helps to validate your own beliefs and outlook on photography!
Whilst we’re on the subject of photography, there are some incredibly exciting projects coming up with an even bigger and exciting announcement of a partnership which promises to change everything you know about current photography workshops and photographic safaris in South Africa and Africa!
